The Emperians are an old and well-developed Feline race. The Emperian Government is Feudal in structure, with the current Empress as their leader who rules their society with an iron fist. Emperians lead the Universe in their ability to blend living organisms with computers. Most of their Warships and Transport ships are, in fact, commanded by Cyborgs. When walking on their hind legs, these creatures stand slightly over five feet tall and are noted for their temperamental disposition. The Emperess is particularly temperamental, with a strong tendency toward decapitating anyone who displeases her.
Almost all Emperians are connected to computers via active, permanently installed neural links. When a young Emperian decides to join the Cyborg society, their brain, and attached spinal column are removed and permanently attached to computers for the rest of their lives, and their former body is discarded. By choosing the Cyborg life, volunteer families are given rich rewards, and Cyborgs can live longer than nonCyborg beings. Thus there is almost always a waiting list of volunteers to join the Cyborg life.
Emperians are fundamentally lazy creatures. They always chose the least work option to accomplish their goals. They have a strong military and are not shy about using it to get their way. They are one of the dominant members of the Galactic Council in part due to their strong military and willingness to use it. As a society, they prefer to take resources others have developed rather than developing their own resources. Their decision to declare war on the Human race stemmed from the fact that the Human homeworld is extraordinarily rich in resources, many of which the Humans have yet to discover or develop, but the Emperians covet.
Emperians are jealous of the Watchers’ position in the Galaxy and dream of displacing them. The Watchers know this and have gone to extraordinary lengths to hide their long-standing decision to abandon all things military. Resting on their past laurels rather than current abilities. No one knows this deep secret, and the Watchers work overtime to keep it this way.
